Proposed amendments to NLRB election rules and regulations fact sheet
On June 21, 2011, the National Labor Relations Board, Member Hayes
dissenting, proposed reforms of the procedures it follows prior and subsequent
to conducting a secret ballot election to determine if employees wish to be
represented for purposes of collective bargaining. The proposed amendments are
intended to reduce unnecessary litigation, streamline pre- and post-election
procedures, and facilitate the use of electronic communications and document
filing.
The Board has periodically reviewed and revised its procedures in
representation cases in order to efficiently carry out its duties under the
National Labor Relations Act. Since the NLRA was enacted in 1935, the Board has
amended its representation case rules at least three dozen times, often in
substantial ways. The proposed reforms represent the Board’s latest effort to
improve its service to the public.
The Board invites comments on the proposal in two ways: through a public Board hearing scheduled for July 18 and
19; and through a 60-day period for written comments, with 14 days for replies, that may be submitted electronically through www.Regulations.govor by mail to the Board’s Washington D.C. headquarters.
More information on the July 18-19 open meeting, including the speakers list, is available here.

Please be advised The FCGOA has recently become the target of other labor unions in the security industry. The attack is based on our change and progressiveness service and commitment. Some would like to keep it the “SAME OLD WAY”. Our progressive “NEW WAY” of doing thing has the old dogs barking and the scorched earth slander tactics are all they know. We would rather UNITE all in the industry to better the lives of not only our members but the lives of security officers and members of other unions across the Nation. Unfortunately some would rather spend the hard earned dues money of their membership to pick a fight with us rather than unite and fight the issues that trouble security officers. It would serve us all better than instead of sitting in front of a computer producing trash get out in the sunlight and fight for security officers rights! We at the FCGOA assure all that the bullies will not intimidate the new kid in the school yard!
